Ruri Hibarigaoka (雲雀丘 瑠璃 Hibarigaoka Ruri?), also known as Hibari (ヒバリ Hibari?), is the main protagonist of the Anne Happy♪ series. She enrolled in Tennomifune Academy where she attempts to come to terms with her misfortune of "Tragic Love".

Bio[]

Appearance[]

Ruri has a fair complexion and sharp green eyes. Her long indigo hair has a purple ombre and it is worn loose with portions of the back pulled over her shoulder and held by pearl clips. Her forelocks are chest-length.

She wears the Tennomifune Academy uniform with a pair of white stockings and black Mary-Jane shoes.

Personality[]

Calm, responsible and collected, Ruri truly believes herself to be the only person with common sense and maturity. She's often cynical and doesn't appear to have much trust or faith in others initially, but she's revealed to be just as strange. Mainly when it comes to her fixation and romantic feelings with a construction sign, whom she is shown to treat like a boyfriend.

While reserved, Ruri is also kind and polite. She frequently becomes flustered and is very shy when dealing with kind interactions, and she isn't very familiar with friendship. She usually keeps her feelings bottled up as a result of being teased, and she is pretty lonely deep down. She has some amount of self-loathing but masks it with her maturity.

However, after becoming friends with Anne Hanakoizumi and Botan Kumegawa she soon starts opening herself and learns to come to terms with her feelings.

Plot[]

Upset at being separated from her love, Ruri ran across Anne Hanakoizumi, who was hanging from a bridge while holding a dog. Ruri attempted to help Anne, who asked her name before deciding to nickname her Hibari, just as her shirt fabric tore and sent her plummeting into the water. After checking to make sure she was okay, Ruri got to know Anne, eventually nicknaming her Hanako in return. They later discovered they would be in the same class, and while Ruri initially didn't want to be there as she got to know Anne and Botan Kumegawa, she began to reconsider after they accidentally discovered her picture of the construction sign. They didn't react the way she thought, instead they showed encouragement and their opinions for her did not change, making her feel very happy.

Background[]

Since Ruri has been in love with a construction sign, people have always teased her about this when they found out about it, especially in middle school. However, Ruri's love did not falter and she still loves the sign and claims that it is someone important to her. It was revealed that she fell in love with the sign at first glance after she walked home from grade school, where she at first didn't think any special about it at first, but soon came to appreciate the fact it stayed quiet and said nothing back to her.

Relationships[]

Anne Hanakoizumi[]

Despite their contrasting personalities, the girls are close friends. Ruri finds Anne to have an infectious happiness and realizes being around her makes her feel cheerful, while Anne likes to see Ruri smile more. Ruri's friendship with Anne was solidified after Anne found the picture Ruri carried around of the construction sign and Anne promised not to make fun of her or tell anyone about it. They trust each other entirely.

Botan Kumegawa[]

Botan is one of Ruri's first friends upon entering high school. She finds Botan to be weird and like Anne, but she does treasure her as a good friend. Botan also didn't mock her feelings, and Ruri has began to trust her as well. Ruri constantly helps Botan when she gets injured.
